Biochemical properties

The metallo-phosphoesterase motif is found in a large number of enzymes including serine/threonine phosphatases, DNA polymerase, exonucleases, nucleotidases, sphingomyelin phosphodiesterases, and 2'-3' cAMP phosphodiesterases [1].

Allergens from this family

Aed a 1, an apyrase (adenosine diphosphatase) from the mosquito Aedes aegypti was identified as an allergen recognized by 43% of mosquito-allergic patients in skin tests [2].
